The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation presents THE MANHATTAN TRANSFER in a special holiday concert in the Fred Kavli Theatre at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 4, 2012

With over 40 years in the recording industry, The Manhattan Transfer remains a major staple within both the jazz community and the mainstream music community by continuing to bring different genres of music to the forefront of jazz. The platinum selling, world-wide chart topping group has been renowned for broadening the musical landscape with their innovative, genre defying sound. They have won 10 Grammy® Awards and have been nominated for 17, and they made Grammy history by being the first group to win Grammy’s simultaneously in both the jazz and pop categories. Their latest CD The Chick Corea Songbook made an impressive debut at #5 on the Billboard Magazine jazz chart.

In their formative years, the group established a cult following at iconic New York clubs such as Max’s Kansas City where they attracted artists such as Mick Jagger and David Bowie. Signed to Atlantic Records by the legendary Ahmet Ertegun, their 1975 debut album The Manhattan Transfer landed them their own TV show on CBS.

The Manhattan Transfer is Cheryl Bentyne, Tim Hauser, Alan Paul and Janis Siegel. They will perform an uplifting performance featuring holiday favorites.
