The new, off-Broadway production of Rent began previews on, July 14, and opens Thursday, August 11 at New World Stages. The highly anticipated resurrection of the cult classic, written by Jonathan Larson, is being directed by Michael Greif, who directed the show's original off-Broadway and Broadway productions. The creative team includes choreographer Larry Keigwin, music supervisor Tim Weil, set designer Mark Wendland, costume designer Angela Wendt, lighting designer Kevin Adams, sound designer Brian Ronan, and projection designer by Peter Nigrini. 'Hairspray' opens at Chattanooga Theatre Centre on July 1st and runs through the 24th, 2011. The Broadway musical is written by Thomas Meehan and Mark O'Donnell with music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman. This musical is based on the 1988 film of the same name by John Waters and is based on Water's experiences growing up in Baltimore.

After releasing their debut album Our First Mistake and selling out venues across New York City, songwriting duo and Larson Award winners Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk (The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown, Henry and Mudge) hosted the final NY concert of YOU MADE THIS TOUR on Sunday, March 27 at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker Street). Producers Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum and Allan S. Gordon have announced that the landmark musical Rent will open in a new, off-Broadway production on Thursday, August 11 at New World Stages, 340 West 50th Street, Between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. Previews begin Thursday, July 14.

Royal Underground/Jerica Productions spearheaded by brother and sister duo Jerianne and Enrico Banson, who mounted the Regional Premiere of RENT in San Francisco, has taken the musical to Los Angeles for the first time. Many RENT fans have credited their rendition as the best regional version paying homage to the iconic original Broadway production while finding new creative staging. So much so, that their production has earn nominations for BroadwayWorld.com's San Francisco Fan Choice Theatre Awards for 2010, earning a Best Leading Actor nomination for Enrico Banson as Roger, and Adrienne Fraser for Best Scenic Design. Both are back for the Hollywood production and coincidentally enough, Jason Aaronson who will play Mark opposite Enrico Banson's Roger is also nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance of the West Coast Premiere of Glory Days.
